B2 avionics

This certified course allows to get an EASA Aircraft Maintenance License (AML) for category B (base maintenance) sub-category 2 (avionic) – B2.
AML, issued according to Annex III (Part-66) of the Regulation (EU) No. 1321/2014, is the document that certifies the knowledge and experience requirements of the owner applicable to the specific categories and subcategories indicated in the license.

Any person or company that is in charge of doing maintenance is responsible of the operations performed, must be qualified for the tasks and, if authorised to certify maintenance done to aircrafts or provide support on that matter, must be in possession of the appropriate licenses and/or authorizations. Such person (or company), when performing maintenance, must ensure that maintenance standards established in the applicable regulation (for example Part-M and Part-145) are followed.

At the end of this certified course, and after the examinations, a Certificate of Recognition is issued to the candidate; this Certificate has validity all over the EASA (European Aviation Safety Agency) countries.

Course details

  1. Get the required basic knowledge levels as defined in the Part-66 regulation.
  2. Get the required competence/experience in performing safe maintenance, inspections and scheduled works according to the aircraft maintenance instructions.

This certified course includes the following modules:

  • Module 2 – Physics
  • Module 3 – Electrical fundamentals
  • Module 4 – Electronic fundamentals
  • Module 5 – Digital Techniques Electronic Instrument Systems
  • Module 6 – Materials and Hardware
  • Module 7A – Maintenance Practices
  • Module 8 – Basic Aerodynamics
  • Module 9A – Human Factors
  • Module 10 – Aviation Legislation
  • Module 13 – Aircraft Aerodynamics, Structures and Systems
  • Module 14 – Propulsion
  • Module 15 – Gas Turbine Engine

This certified course is performed into English language.

Training activities are divided into theoretical (1200 hours) and practical (1200 hours).

Theoretical activities (6 hours a day) are performed into classrooms by morning and afternoon sessions.

Practical activities (7 hours a day) are performed into hangar and workshops (metal sheet and electrical/electronic) by morning and afternoon sessions.

Theoretical training

At the end of each training module an examination is held (Multi Choice Question and/or Essay question). The minimum examination result is 75 % according to EASA regulations.

Practical training

A practical assessment is performed at the end of the practical activities.

Duration is 2400 hours, 50% theoretical and 50% practical.

It is about 80 calendar weeks, less than 2 years.

This certified courses is for person wishing to start a career into aviation as certified engineer.

Due the course content and duration, it is suitable for any person even if without any previous experience or knowledge into this field.

  • high-school/vocational school diploma or equivalent (suggested but not mandatory); and
  • basic knowledge of the English language.
